RARE EMBROIDERED AND PAINTED SILK MOURNING PICTURE, ATTRIBUTED TO SARAH TOBIAS, COLUMBIA COUNTY, NEW YORK, CIRCA 1806
Worked in silk, chenille, paint and ink on silk; inscribed on the plinth, A Daughter's, Tribute in Memory of Her Deceased Parents... Glass of later date.

Height 20 in. by width 26 3/4 in.

CATALOGUE NOTE
Attributed to Sarah Tobias (b. 1791), the only daughter of Daniel Tobias (c . 1766-1797) nd Ruth Newcomb of Kalina Kill, Columbia County. A similar blend of colors with white and grey paint was used at Sarah Pierce's Academy in Litchfield, Connecticut.
