Rare southern sampler worked by Mary Ann at age nine with multiple intricately stitched alphabets, the Lord's Prayer, Apostles' Creed, and various animals and other motifs.

Mary Ann Mazyck Weston was the second oldest of eleven children born to Dr. Paul Weston and Antonia Bentley. She was born July 1, 1805 in Edinburgh, Scotland and as an infant moved with her parents and older sister to Charleston, SC where all her other siblings were born. Her Grandfather Plowden Weston, who owned Laurel Hill Plantation made a great fortune which he left to Mary's farther and his other son.

An extensive family genealogy and provenance accompanies the sampler.
