Eliza worked this sampler at age 10. It’s somewhat rare to use a dark background fabric (linsey-woolsey) especially
with a “marking” sampler (just numbers and letters).
Eliza Ann Allen (1807-1857) was one of four children of Jared (Nathaniel) Allen and Abigail Peck who married in
1800 in Hamden, CT then moved to Wallingrord.
