JANE BIRD 1802 Marblehead, Massachusetts antique sampler Jane Bird Her Work/ aged 12 years 1802 Jane's sampler is considered one of the best examples to come from the "eminent schoolmistress" Martha Barber's school in Marblehead, Mass. The layered format is filled with piquant people and animals. The piece is solidly stitched with none of the ground fabric showing.
