Large samplers with meandering floral borders are typical of samplers from the Hopkinton area. Lucinda fortunately
named her teacher which allows similar samplers to be attributed to the same school. The verses she stitched can
be attributed to three English poets; Hannah More, Charles Lamb, and John Gay.
Lucinda was the daughter of James Huse and Betsey Noyes. She married Captain Robert Wilson in 1833 and they had
at least two children.
Silk on linen; 25" x 16 ¾" sight, 28" x 19 ¾" framed.
