Antique needlework sampler
Springfield Township, PA dated 1820
Springfield township is in northern Bucks county.
This sampler features a center hall house on a lawn with three very small sheep and two very large chickens. The
house is depicted with shutters, a Palladian window over the front door, and some subtleties; the foundation, corner
columns, and eves. Fences, trees, baskets of flowers, and a flowering vine border complete the sampler.
It is inscribed: Catharine Meyer's/ Sampler Finish'd in Sprin/field May the 8 1820.

Exhibited at The Museum of American Folkart 1978.
Silk on linen; 20 ¾" x 20" framed (18 7/8" x 17 ¼" sight).
