This interesting Bucks County sampler with various trees, birds and sheep around a large house with shuttered windows is inscribed: Frederica A. Stout's sampler finished Oct 25 1825 made this work with Sally Buckley in Springtown/ Springfield township Bucks County Boarded with Jacob Treichler/ aged 9 years

It is rare that a sampler is inscribed with so much information. Along with the town, township, and county she included the name of her teacher and the name of the person she boarded with.
Frederica (born in 1/29/1816) was the oldest of Isaac Stout (who was a farmer and owned a sawmill) and Catherine Clemens' nine children. In 1858 Frederica married Charles Christman and had children.

Silk on linen; 20 1/2" x 25 1/2" framed.
