SALLY THURSTON
Troy, MA 1830 Sally stitched impressive columns on her sampler with wispy flowers in chunky pots. She inscribed
her sampler, “Sally L. Thurston’s sampler Wrought AD. 1830/ Troy.”
In 1804, Fall River, MA changed the name of the town to Troy. Thirty years later they changed it back to Fall River.
Sally’s sampler displays similar columns to those found in nearby Providence, RI.
Silk on linen; 17 ¼” x 12 ¾”.
