MARY ANN TREHR
Exeter, Berks Co., Pa 1845
Mary Ann worked this stunningly graphic needlework sampler at aged 13. She lived in Exeter, PA with her parents
and had no siblings. This joyful sampler is inscribed with her parents initials ( D & J T) next to a depiction
of a dancing couple. Also centered between two pairs of birds are the initials ( S * B ) which probably represent
her instructress.
Her parents were Daniel Trehr (b. abt. 1805) and Julia ? Trehr (b. abt. 1813). She married a local carpenter Abraham
Deeter (b. abt. 1831) sometime after 1850. They had one child Louisa (b. abt. 1863). Mary Ann Thehr Deeter died
Jan. 23, 1884 and is buried in Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading, Berks Co., PA
