Stephen & Carol Huber: 17th - 19th Century Needlework

Trehr sampler from Huber

MARY ANN TREHR
Exeter, Berks Co., Pa 1845

Mary Ann worked this stunningly graphic needlework sampler at aged 13. She lived in Exeter, PA with her parents and had no siblings. This joyful sampler is inscribed with her parents initials ( D & J T) next to a depiction of a dancing couple. Also centered between two pairs of birds are the initials ( S * B ) which probably represent her instructress.

Her parents were Daniel Trehr (b. abt. 1805) and Julia ? Trehr (b. abt. 1813). She married a local carpenter Abraham Deeter (b. abt. 1831) sometime after 1850. They had one child Louisa (b. abt. 1863). Mary Ann Thehr Deeter died Jan. 23, 1884 and is buried in Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading, Berks Co., PA

Wool & cotton on linen; 32" X 32" framed.
