Clarissa Watson Abby Wright School needlework memorial South Hadley, MA c.1809 Clarissa worked this beautiful silk embroidered memorial while in her early 20's. It is dedicated to her sister Lucy Watson Mason, who was 3 years older and died at the age of 25, just 8 months after she married Ebenezer Mason. Clarissa married Russell Prouty in 1814. The family lived in Spencer, MA, where their father James Watson was the 1st selectman for 23 years from 1785 to 1808. The Abby Wright School in South Hadley, MA, is about 40 miles from Spencer.
