Stephen & Carol Huber: 17th - 19th Century Needlework

Shelburne, New Hampshire - Ingalls family record samper fro Huber
Ingalls Family Record
Needlework Sampler
Shelburne, New Hampshire c. 1834

It appears that this sampler was likely worked in 1834 and added to after 1839 probably by the same hand. The deaths of brothers Rufus and Frederick in January of 1834 may have been the catalyst for creating a family record. It is not signed or dated so we really can't be sure who stitched it. Stylistically the large four sided widely spaced bold flowering motifs are consistent with other New Hampshire family record samplers from the mid 1830s.

Silk on linen; 19 ½"x 16 ¾" framed - 17 ½" x 14 ¾" sight
