Extremely rare and in perfect condition, this all original rollup housewif (sewing kit) with pin cushion, retains its silver band, chain, and clip as well as the silk ribbons that attach the housewif to the clip and secure it when rolled up. The bold colorful and complex bargello patterns on the housewife, inscribed; M I / 1762, and pin cushion are intricately stitched with fine silk thread. The inside is made with early green and patterned silk with six pockets and a double layered felt needle pad. Housewif 15" x 3 ¾", Pin Cushion 2 ½" x 2". This was first discovered in Chester County, PA.
