Sarah Olney Needlework Sampler Providence, Rhode Island dated 1744 SARAH OLNEY I WAS BORN A FRYDAY MARCH THE 31 1732 THIS SAMPLER WORKED IN THE YEAR 1744. Sarah was the daughter of Captain Joseph Olney and Sarah Pearce. At age 12, in 1744, she worked this little band sampler. At age 27 she married Rufus Hopkins and they had three sons. She died at age 53. For her entire life she lived in Providence, Rhode Island.
