Stephen & Carol Huber: 17th - 19th Century Needlework

Brooks family record from Huber

Emily Brooks
Family Record Sampler
Townsend, MA 1830

Inscribed: Wrought by Emily Brooks aged 12 years 1830

Emily lost her 35 year old father and one year old youngest sister when she was just eight years old. So knowing how fleeting life can be she wanted to permanently record the existence of her family. I’m including the complete family information in this description because the existing records are not complete and according to the verse below Emily would appreciate this information being complete.

Our names recorded here will stand
Though months and years do fly
But on these tender feeble frames
Will shortly fade and die

Miss Betsey Wallis (b. Dec. 14 1789)
